Princess Yachts Apprenticeships

At Princess Yachts, inspiring people to achieve is at the heart of what we do. We’ve built our success on the skills and abilities of our people, which is why we invest so much time and effort in our apprenticeship programmes.  You’ll be working with world-class yacht-builders and other professionals who are passionate about passing on their experience and helping you to build your future career. We’ll make sure you’re doing work that matters from day one, mixing classroom-study with practical work and real experience.

Our apprenticeships

    • All our craft apprenticeships combine theory and practical learning.  We offer the following:

      - Engineering
      - Carpentry/boat building
      - Fabricating and Welding
      - Composites

      We are also able to offer apprenticeships in Business Administration, HR, Finance, Information Technology and CAD Development.

      If you’re looking to start your career journey, where your work can make a significant impact, you’ve come to the right place. You can apply for an apprenticeship with us from 1st November to 1st March each year.

    • Our Marine Engineering Apprenticeships are all about designing, building and manufacturing our boats and leads to a Level 3 qualification. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in:

      - GRP bonding
      - Engine installation
      - Engine preparation
      - Installation of electrical and mechanical systems e.g., Generators, navigation equipment, communication equipment
      - Boat testing and commissioning

    • Our Boat Builder Apprenticeships are all about working on the designs of our luxury yachts. As an apprentice you will learn skills such as building the internal structure and fit out which include plumbing, bench joinery, outfitting and deck fitting and leads to a Level 3 qualification. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in:

      - Bench joinery
      - Boat outfitting, installing component parts within cabins, saloons and galleys
      - GRP bonding and fabrication
      - Deck fitting
      - Plumbing
      - Finishing wood products
      - Inspection and testing

    • The Level 3 Composites Apprenticeships provide the skills and knowledge of applying Gel, Resins, Catalysts, and Mat materials to form Glass Reinforced Structures which form the decks, hulls, canopies and many other structures of the boats. Apprentices will also carry out GRP repairs and look into new and evolving material technologies.

    • Our Level 3 Fabrication and Welding Apprenticeships provide the skills and knowledge within a range of specialties such as sheet metal, plate fabrication and welding plus structural steelwork. You will develop your skills in:

      - CNC – laser
      - Break press (DNC)
      - Welding and fabrication of stainless-steel and aluminium
      - Hydraulic tube bending
      - Super marine polishing, manual and electronic

    • Subject to availability, our Development Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work in 2D and 3D design. You will develop your skills through a variety of modules including:

      - Understanding technical drawings, creating and using patterns, woodworking skills, laminating skills, understanding datums, templating, etc.
      - Fit out techniques- engineering and carpentry
      - Computer Aided Design 

    • Subject to availability, we offer Level 3 apprenticeships in business administration which is a 2-year apprenticeship within one of our business teams across Princess. You will complete units such as managing performance, principles of business administration, communication in a business environment, project management and much more.

    • We look for people with the right attitude, the right qualities and the desire to fulfil their potential. People who can stand out from the crowd and deliver the high standards of quality and service expected in our business. Candidates for apprenticeships will be expected to have achieved or be working towards GCSE Level 5 (or equivalent) in English and Maths and a GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Science and related subjects.

Applications

You can apply for a trade apprenticeship with us from 1st November to 1st March each year. An online application form is available here during the application window. 

For our office apprenticeships an online application will be made live when a role becomes available. Currently we have no vacancies for our office apprenticeships. 

Once applications close, you will be asked to complete an online Maths and English assessment and if you achieve the pass mark you will be invited to attend an interview. 

Successful interviewees will be invited back to take part in a practical team working day where you will be further assessed. 

Following the final assessment we will be in touch to let you know if you have been successful and will arrange a time for you to meet you new colleagues.
